The Interpretation, Youth Programs, and Social Media intern will present guided interpretive walks to the general public. These will be 1 - 1.5 hour long interpretive hikes on a 1 mile trail to help facilitate interpretive connections to the fossil resources. During the summer, there will also be opportunities to assist with the Monument’s youth based geology and paleontology camp. The intern will assist by helping lead groups of 10 - 15 upper elementary school students in hands on activities about geology and paleontology as part of a 4 day camp. Another duty will be to help facilitate youth to participate in the Junior Ranger program. This will involve being in charge of a mobile Junior Ranger station where the intern will help youth get set up with their Junior ranger books, demonstrate science activities, and hand out Junior Ranger badges. Lastly, the intern will be involved in the development of interpretive content to go on the Monument’s Face- book and Twitter pages. This will involve taking photos, writing content, and sending it in for approval.
