Description

Although Capulin is primarily known for its volcanic geology, the park boasts a rich diversity of plant and animal life. The grasslands of the Great Plains and the forests of the Rocky Mountains combine at Capulin to form a unique ecotone which provides habitat for 73 species of birds in addition to numerous other animals.

The intern will develop education and interpretive programs related to pollinators and climate change to be used on and off site as well as for distance learning. They will actively participate in the public hummingbird banding station at Capulin Volcano National Monument and educate the public on the importance of pollinators in this unique volcanic landscape.
