Visit one of the last unspoiled coastal wetlands on the Atlantic Coast. Discover 6,000 years of human history and experience the beauty of salt marshes, coastal dunes, and hardwood hammocks.The Intern will be supervised by an Education Specialist to receive park orientation, and clearly delineated assignments with guidance and constructive feedback. The mentor will also provide guidance concerning NPS work such as working at the visitor’s center, providing informal interpretation, and participating in outreach training. The intern will also have the opportunity to shadow park scientists and rangers on diverse projects and programs. Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve (TIMU) is looking for a motivated intern with a background in the use of Alternative Energy in lieu of traditional fossil fuel supplied energy sources. This project entails a clear path from base-line research culminating in the writing and presentation of a construction project to be competed for federal funding. A strong understanding of alternative energy and its implementation on facilities is paramount to this internship.
