The Adventure Station is an urban visitor center that was created in partnership between the National Park Service and Recreation Equipment, Inc. (REI). This partnership is unique in that it is the first of its kind in that it will focus on engaging the surrounding business and community which is a critical population that encompasses several demographics.  The National Capital Region and our work with REI and the Adventure Station are built on addressing the need to diversify not only in our workplace but also in the communities that we engage.

The LHIP intern will be tasked with maintaining and establishing partnerships with the local community, working with volunteers, planning and implementing engagement programming, and facilitating exciting community events. The intern will be provided with formal mentors and a cadre of informal mentors from several program areas within the National Capital Regional Office, Office of Partnerships, Youth and Community Engagement.  The team will assist the intern with learning all there is to know about the National Capital Region and support them throughout the internship.
